our first engine…
Osprey’s liquid bi-propellant engine is DUSF’s first liquid engine and the first time we have competed at the Race2Space national propulsion competition.
The engine utilises cooling channels printed into the thrust chamber itself to prevent melting of the chamber walls.
The propellants are delivered through a triplet impinging injector, which reached combustion efficiencies of over 90%, while the total efficiency reached 194s.
The engine and injector were additively manufactured from AlSi10Mg in partnership with Aconity3D.
